ABACBS Outstanding PhD Thesis Award 2024


My PhD thesis received the 2024 Outstanding PhD Thesis Award from the Australian Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Society (ABACBS).
My PhD thesis titled “Metagenomics Binning Using Assembly Graphs” introduced the use of assembly graphs in metagenomic binning and explored new algorithms and computational models to bin contigs. You can read my PhD thesis for further details.

President’s Award for Scientific Research 2023

A first-authored paper from my bachelor thesis work was awarded a President’s Award for Scientific Research 2023 in recognition of highly rated scientific research.
The paper titled “Change Detection and Notification of Web Pages: A Survey” was published in the prestigious journal ACM Computing Surveys (2023 Impact Factor: 23.8, ranked 1/143 in Computer Science Theory & Methods).

ASM SA/NT Branch ECR Award 2023



Presented my work titled “Untangling bacteriophage communities associated with inflammatory bowel disease” at the ASM SA/NT Branch Early Career Researcher Awards Night and won a travel grant to attend ASM 2023 in Perth.

ABACBS 2022, Melbourne, Australia

Did a lightning talk on my poster titled “Phables: Phage bubbles resolve bacteriophage genomes in viral metagenomic samples” at the Australian Bioinformatics And Computational Biology Society (ABACBS) Conference 2022.
Won the best lightning talk (student) award.
Genomes of Microbiomes 2022, Birmingham, UK


Presented a poster titled “Using assembly graphs to identify bacteriophage genomes in metagenomic samples” at the Genomes of Microbiomes 2022 conference (organised by the Microbiology Society) in Birmingham, UK.
Won the Outstanding Science Prize to a scientific poster supported by Microbial Genomics.

ICSCA 2018, Kuantan, Malaysia


Presented the paper titled “Random Forest Classifier based Scheduler Optimization for Search Engines”, and won the excellent oral presentation certificate of the Computer Science and Information Communication session at the 7th ACM International Conference on Software and Computer Applications 2018, Kuantan, Malaysia.

Google I/O 2015 – Best Innovation

Won 1st place and the “Best Innovation” award at the Google I/O hackathon 2015. Out of the 66 teams, 10 teams got through to the Hackathon finals and ultimately our team won it for the product “Amplus” which is a SMART advertising platform which would benefit businesses in many ways to advertise their products.
